After travelling extensively for a year, we soon came to realise that the cost of this lifestyle was starting to eat into our savings. Soon, we would need to return home, however much we would like to continue what we were doing.
Talking with Maz, a good friend of ours in Australia, she reminded us of the time that she house sat, "Down Under". Maz suggested we should look at this as an option. After visiting various websites and reading several books, I decided that this was definitely worth looking into. I have got to say at this stage my husband was somewhat skeptical!
I joined Trustedhousesitter.com and spent time setting up our profile, asking friends, family, previous landlords, colleagues (in fact we approached just about everyone we could think of)
if they would be kind enough to write character references for us.
We also produce a short video (hey not an oscar winning performance but we hope it would give people an idea of who we are!) and applied for our police checks (this took a few weeks to organise). All done and we were ready to go!
