A return once more to the Manor!

A return to the Manor House in August for another House/Pet Sit, the owners, Suzanne and Jacques, having decided to take a last minute break.

Upon arrival however, we found poor Jacques in a bad way. He had lost his best friend to cancer a few days prior to our arrival (all happened very suddenly). I am sure he was still grieving. He just didn't want to go away at all! Suzanne hadn't booked anything as she was looking for a last minute deal. She asked us to stay anyway, she had had a difficult summer with family and friends at the house non-stop and seemed really shattered.

To make matters worse Vidocq (their springer spaniel) had been hit by a car on the driveway outside the house, fortunately only causing a dislocated shoulder, but it really upset them both. She insisted we stay (we have been great friends with all our house/pet sits we have done) We said we'd stay for a week initially as it would be lovely to spend some time with them. Got them out for a few day trips. Had a few bbq's (Tom cooking to give Suzanne a break) and some guitar and singsong nights. Which everyone enjoyed.

Not wanting to take advantage of their hospitality we did lots of jobs around the house for them and when Jacques asked us to stay on for a further week we agreed but said we'd paints some of the shutters in exchange for bed and board, which they were really chuffed about.

We really enjoyed our time with them both as always.
