Wow! Christmas in a Treehouse in the Rainforest overlooking the Caribbean Sea with Tizzy, Lucky and

We were looking to return to the Caribbean to see our son, when we saw this 3 week assignment advertised. After applying and speak with the owners, we were absolutely delighted to be chosen....in truth we could hardly believe our luck!

We loved living in the Rainforest Treehouse. The house was set highon a cliff with views out to sea. Our nearest neighbours being a good 5 minute walk away. The roads to get to the Treehouse....well loosely called roads, more like rocky tracks, where quite an experience to negotiate. Luckily the owners lent us their car (a 4 wheel drive), but we still felt like you are bouncing around on a trampoline, when you navigate the potholes! The only water at the house was filtered rain water! This is used for everything from washing, showering to drinking, and as such we had to be very water wise in it's usage. The vegetation was amazing, so lush and green. One of the highlights had to be, seeing the many varieties of hummingbirds, They looked like tiny fairies, visiting the flowers that surround the deck. Not forgetting the minature tree frogs and lizards that are everywhere too. An amazing place in the midst of nature. We were not too sure about some of the creepy crawlies though (large spiders) and the mozzies are having a feeding frenzy on poor Tom! Still, we did not complain, we can certainly live with them!

The dogs were gorgeous, Tizzy, Lucky and Shadow. Tizzy, the mum, Lucky her son (the only pup to survive her first litter, hence the name). Lucky has a big fear of steps and as there are lots here he has to be gently encourage to go up and down them. Last, but not least, is Shadow, the 9 month old pup (part kangaroo and crocodile too!). Forgotten just how funny puppies are. She was into everything, mad as a hatter, but great fun to be around. They enjoy 2 walks a day and lots of ball throwing and then lots of "find the ball" as it was really easy to get lost in the "jungle"!

We had a wonderful time, the Treehouse was a great place to relax. The dogs were a joy to be around. The owners introduced us to one of their neighbours and she has offered us an 8 week housepet/ sit, in her beautiful home looking after Laos (her small rescue dog) and an outdoor cat called Guiselle, who pops in for breakfast and dinner. This will commence when we return from seeing our son in Antigua. We are really looking forward to returning. Saint Lucia is a beautiful island.
